Wow, have  I been slipping!  So much has happened since February.  That Facebook thing has taken over my communication world.  Let’s recap what has been going on in the Schomber family world…Greyden turned one, Caeben turned 6, Caeb lost his first tooth on March 30, Greyden is now a real walker, Easter happened, and Chad turned 35!  Wow!  Time flies when you are having fun!  Caeben and I have 37 more days of school until summer vacation.  For the most part we have had an okay spring…no bad illnesses, no tragedies, and the boys have been getting along pretty well!

Caeben, grandma Kay and I colored 36 easter eggs.  I think I had to color about 24 as Caeben was a little burned out after his first 3!  Caeben’s latest obsession is “challenging” his dad at the various games we have for the new Wii.  This was his birthday present, but I think daddy wanted it as much as Caeb.  The look on his face when he opened it was priceless.  He had no idea that was what we were getting him!

It has been a busy couple of weeks around our house.  I had forgotten how much weekend time is sacrificed for youth hockey.  Almost every weekend Caeben has a game or tournament somewhere.  He really likes playing and being a “tough guy” out there on the ice.  We are so proud of him.  He and his team are so fun to watch.  If you want to catch one of his last games, contact me and I can let you know the schedule.  Okay, now about that title…Caeben can now tie his own shoes and Greyden can climb ALL of our stairs!  Wow, two ends of the spectrum with our boys.  Happy Valentine’s Day to you all…

Saturday night at the Schomber house…We are trying to encourage Caeb to sleep all night in his bed (only happens rarely lately!).  I was telling him that I like to sleep with daddy, so he should sleep in his bed.  He said, “I know why mommy’s and daddy’s sleep together.”  A million things are running through my head at this point…”so they don’t have to buy two beds!”  So innocent aren’t they!  Another weekend of hockey is finished.  No goals today, but Caeb is going to be a great defensive player.  He is super at getting to the puck and breaking up the opponents play.  We are now on Skype, so we have now webcammed with Roy and Sandy and Brett, Jenn and Ethan.  How fun it is to see everyone.  If anyone would like to join us, send us your user name info and we will add you on!  Have a great week…it was a tough one for us, but I won’t go into details right now.

Whew…who could have ever imagined there would be such a thing as “2 cold 2 go to school” days?  Not only that, but two of them in a row?!  Thursday and Friday were days spent bonding with the boys. On Friday night we ventured out with Caeb and Grey to the Badger men vs. Colorado College hockey game.  Both were very well behaved and so was the audience (that can be tricky sometimes!).  Saturday brought the much anticipated hockey game for Caeben.   I am proud to say he scored one solo goal and had one assist!  That’s my future Badger hockey player.  Sunday brought a playdate with Caeb’s friend Garrett.  They did a lot of playing in the snow, inside, outside, inside, outside…I guess that’s what playdates are for!  Monday means back to work and school for Caeben and I…no MLK holiday for us.  I look forward to watching and reading all of the coverage of Barack Obama’s big day on Tuesday, or as Caeb calls him, “Maraca Obama”!

Aaahhh...the weekend!

Aaahhh...the weekend!

Greyden had his 9 month baby well check today and the stats are in…he is 24 lbs 10.5 oz and 29 inches long!  He has dropped in the percentile rank for his weight and his height, so all of that rolling and army crawling must be burning some calories.  Caeben is way excited as he has his first hockey game of the season on Saturday.  He is so much further than he was  last year.  He just wants to go out there and “score some goals mom!”  We’ll keep you posted on how it goes on Saturday.

Another big move for Greyden this week…we moved him out of the “baby” carrier and into a big boy carseat.  It was getting to be quite a challenge to carry him around in his carrier all of the time.  We think he is enjoying the comfort of his new seat!

Christmas Part II

Bk row: Cory, Todd, Jeanne, Dad, Mom, Caeben, Jared, Sara, Preston. Ft row l-r: Chad, Josh, Brooke, Heather and Greyden:

Whew…we finally finished our last set of celebrations over the weekend at my mom and dad’s house in Beloit.  It was the whole family (minus Alex) at 2427 L…one full bath, but it all worked out just fine!  The main attraction was Wii bowling.  Now Caeb thinks he needs one and that we should “help” him pay for it!  5 year olds…thank goodness the boys are 5 years apart.  It was back to reality at our house this morning.  5:40 the alarm clock rang…not a sound I missed for sure!

Welcome to 2009!

Here it is…my first new year’s resolution!  It is my mission to be better connected with my friends and family.  If I learned anything from the many “downs” last year, I know that life is very precious and that we should treat it that way.  Don’t get me wrong, there were plenty of ups too, like the birth of Greyden and Caeben’s first day of kindergarten!  So, here it goes…

New Year’s Eve @ the Schomber house in Black Earth:   Chad took Caeben and Isabelle (the neighbor girl) sledding in the afternoon and then we all had dinner together.  Greyden stayed up until 7:15, Caeben made it until 10:30 and Chad and I (sort of) made it until midnight (okay, Chad had to nudge me to wake up at 11:57)!

Keep checking back often…remember this is my new year’s resolution!
